Something old, something new...

Stephen and I are going to Asheville tomorrow for a couple of nights.  I have an old Ralph Lauren duffel that has been kept in my parents' attic, and I went up there tonight to grab it for our trip.  While I was up there I saw an old train case that was my grandma's.  I've seen it before and always had the idea of using it.  Well, I decided that today was the day to bring it back to life.

I couldn't open the stupid thing so I asked Nathan to try to pick open the lock.  After several failed attempts he talked me into busting it open.  I must say that I was nervous! ~ for 2 reasons: I didn't want it messed up and I was afraid that if we busted it open then I wouldn't be able to keep it closed.  But my anxiety was for nothing 'cause he busted it open without causing a scratch.  After the case was finally open, I started toying with the lock and realized that he and I had the mechanism all wrong.  YAY!

So then I cleaned out all the old stuff: hair gel, Avon foundation and lotion, a toothbrush, a piece of gauze (?).  Momma set me up with some newspaper, Grease Lightning, a cup of water and that toothbrush I found in it.

Here's what I ended up with.

I love it!  Momma thinks it's from the early '50s.  Who knows...it's vintage.

Oh yeah...
That was Biggie in the background of the first photo (Nathan's Pug).  He was trying to help.  He's so funny.  Looking.  =o)
